The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway West Closure Complex is the largest pump station and sector gate in the world. It is located on the intracoastal waterway south of New Orleans and is designed to withstand a 16 ft storm surge. There are 11 pumps powered by 5400 HP diesel engines that remove rainwater runoff while the gates are closed. Hi-Tech Electric provided all of the electrical and telecommunication construction for the project. It was completed in approximately 12 months!
